The Revise of Nine :: Part Three

EXT. HYPERSPACE

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON speeds through hyperspace.

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - PASSENGER LOUNGE

[ROSE and CHEWBACCA are in the passenger lounge, playing a game of DEJARIK. (++holographic chess++) FINN paces around and seems on edge. BB-8 observes FINN with curiosity and beeps.]

FINN

Not sure how you can be so calm at a time like this.

ROSE

Not calm. [Just] need a distraction.

[ROSE waits patiently as CHEWBACCA considers his next move. C-3PO enters from the cockpit and examines the game pieces on the game board.]

C-3PO

Oh! If I may offer a suggestion….

[CHEWBACCA looks at C-3PO and growls.]

C-3PO

Never mind.

[C-3PO continues on his way.]

FINN

He beats you every time.

ROSE

And I know exactly how he does it.

[CHEWBACCA looks at ROSE and groans, curiously.]

ROSE

(smiling)

It's cause you cheat.

[CHEWBACCA groans, angrily. BB-8 chirps in ROSE's defense.]

ROSE

(laughing)

Oh, c’mon!

FINN

She's just kidding, Chewie.

[CHEWBACCA groans some more.]

FINN

(to ROSE)

Tell him you’re just kidding.

ROSE

You take forever. That's cheating.

[A chime rings from a nearby panel. POE yells from the cockpit.]

POE

(O.S.)

Play time's over kiddo's. Chewie, get your big, hairy butt up here!

[CHEWBACCA grunts and rises up from his seat. CHEWBACCA barks at ROSE and FINN.]

ROSE

We're not going to turn it off.

[CHEWBACCA groans and heads to the cockpit.]

FINN

You really think he's cheating?

ROSE

Unquestionably.

EXT. SPACE - NEAR THE SINTA GLACIER COLONY

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON drops out of hyperspace near a massive ice moon fragment. The SINTA GLACIER COLONY is a FIRST ORDER labor facility where unfortunate political prisoners extract minerals from the moon fragment.]

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

[POE is at the controls of the MILLENNIUM FALCON. HUX is seated behind POE.]

POE

Look alive everyone. We gotta get in and out before the First Order knows we’re here.

[CHEWBACCA grunts.]

POE

(to HUX)

You’re sure this guy can help us find Rey?

HUX

No guarantees. But he is an expert on long range signal tracking. That's among the reasons why we had him sent to this labor camp.

POE

Well, if you’re lyin’... I’m gonna have Chewie tear your arms off.

[CHEWBACCA grunts in agreement.]

INT. SINTA GLACIER COLONY

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON enters one of the many tunnels carved into the ice. The MILLENNIUM FALCON approaches a facility in the bowels of the moon fragment and docks with it.]

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON

POE

Finn! You’re up!

[FINN opens the docking hatch. On the other side is an alien named BOOLIO. With BOOLIO are two other members of his race and a human PRISONER with his back to the camera.]

FINN

You Boolio?

BOOLIO

Yeah.

FINN

C’mon.

[BOOLIO shakes his head.]

BOOLIO

Ain’t me you want. Him.

[The human PRISONER turns to face FINN. FINN's eyes open wide. The prisoner is DJ, the petty criminal who betrayed FINN and ROSE to the FIRST ORDER. DJ and FINN have matching stunned expressions.]

FINN

YOU!

Woah, woah. Wait.

[FINN grabs DJ and pulls DJ into the MILLENNIUM FALCON. FINN slams DJ up against a bulkhead.]

FINN

You sold us out!

BOOLIO

Hey.

[BOOLIO and his companions offer FINN two canisters, each the size of a scuba tank.]

FINN

What's this?

BOOLIO

Hyperfuel.

We stole it from the stockpile. Show of good faith.

FINN

We can’t accept thi-

BOOLIO

(interrupting)

No! My people shoulda helped the Resistance when you called. Paid that price a thousand times over. Take it.

[FINN releases DJ and helps load the HYPERFUEL CANISTERS onto the MILLENNIUM FALCON. POE knows they are running short on time.]

POE

Finn…

[FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS discover BOOLIO and his COMPANIONS.]

COMPANION

Your Highness, they found us! Oof-

[FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS shoot the unarmed COMPANION. Security klaxons begin to blare. FINN indicates for BOOLIO to board the MILLENNIUM FALCON.]

FINN

C’mon.

BOOLIO

Win the damn war!

[BOOLIO seals the hatch just as he is shot by a STORMTROOPER.]

FINN

Poe!

POE

Yeah… I know, I know.

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON detaches from the facility and flies back through the ice tunnels. TIE FIGHTERS appear and chase after the MILLENNIUM FALCON.]

POE

I need my gunners.

ROSE

On it.

[FINN tosses a PISTOL to BB-8. BB-8 points the pistol at DJ.]

FINN

(to BB-8)

If he (DJ) moves, shoot him.

[DJ puts his hands up and shrugs.]

[ROSE and FINN jump into the gun ports on the MILLENNIUM FALCON.]

HUX

(snarky)

Well, the situation deteriorated much faster than I expected.

POE

(to Hux)

I will stop this ship and have Chewie tear your arms off right now if you don’t shut up!

[CHEWBACCA barks.]

EXT. SPACE - NEAR THE SINTA GLACIER COLONY

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON escapes from the facility. Full details TBD. The MILLENNIUM FALCON jumps into hyperspace, followed by the TIE FIGHTERS.]

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

POE

Time to see if this little gizmo of yours works.

[POE plugs the ROUTING FORK into an outlet on the control panel. The MILLENNIUM FALCON drops out of hyperspace. POE looks out of the cockpit window.]

POE

Did it work?

EXT. HYPERSPACE

[The TIE FIGHTERS continue through hyperspace. Onboard the lead TIE FIGHTER, the PILOT is confused by the information from his computer.]

TIE PILOT

Wait. We lost the signal.

TIE GUNNER

How's that even possible?

TIE PILOT

Dropping out of hyperspace.

EXT. SPACE

[The TIE FIGHTERS drop out of hyperspace, critically close to a STAR.]

TIE PILOT

AAAAAAHHHH!

[All of the TIE FIGHTERS are disintegrated by the STAR.]

INT. ECLIPSE - PRIVATE CHAMBER

[PRYDE enters a dark chamber. In the middle of the chamber is KYLO REN who sits on the floor before the OMEN OF BANE. PRYDE approaches cautiously.]

PRYDE

Supreme Leader?

[KYLO REN says nothing.]

PRYDE

Supreme Leader. I see my messengers reached you.

[PRYDE looks at the bodies of two dead OFFICERS some distance away. Each of these OFFICERS was sent to report to KYLO REN; each of these OFFICERS was killed by KYLO REN for disturbing him. PRYDE looks at the tattoo in his hand. The tattoo glows red. PRYDE is a bit uneasy.]

PRYDE

My lord, our latest intelligence indicates that the Renegades-

KYLO REN

(flatly)

I am aware.

[PRYDE is puzzled.]

PRYDE

Aware?

[KYLO REN turns to look at PRYDE. KYLO REN's eyes are red and puffy, as if he hasn’t slept or eaten in days. PRYDE does his best to remain stoic. KYLO REN stands.]

++For my fellow Dark Crystal fans, it's as if the Omen has been draining Kylo's essence.++

KYLO REN

It's not about Renegades! Or Empires, Republics or Rebels. It's always been about something much greater than those petty things. Take the fleet to the Myuung system. The Renegades are preparing an attack.

PRYDE

How can you be so certain?

[KYLO REN looks at PRYDE intently.]

KYLO REN

I have foreseen it. Now, go. Wipe them out.

PRYDE

You will not be leading us?

KYLO REN

No. The greater battle awaits me.

[A door on the opposite side of the chamber opens. Bright light floods the chamber. In the doorway, flanked by two STORMTROOPERS, is LEIA.]

INT. SUPREMACY - DOCKING BAY

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON has returned to the SUPREMACY and lands in the landing bay. “SNAP” WEXLY and JAHNNA are awaiting their arrival. A portable communications terminal is set up a short distance away from the landing zone.]

[DJ is the first to exit the MILLENNIUM FALCON. FINN follows behind DJ and has a gun pointed at DJ's back. ROSE and BB-8 follow after FINN. JANNAH comes to attention.]

JANNAH

General.

[FINN is oblivious to JANNAH. FINN nudges DJ to the communications terminal.]

FINN

Here.

Nice little setup you got yourself here, Finster.

FINN

The only reason you’re alive right now is because I need you to help me find my friend.

Resistance Rebels. First Order. All fighting together now, huh? Remember back when we three and Roundy here had our little ‘venture? I learned you all about the good guys and bad guys …how they all the same. I betray you….

[DJ points at HUX as HUX debarks the MILLENNIUM FALCON. HUX has a smug expression - because he knew this would happen.]

…He betray [sic] me. The great cosmic wheel keeps goin’ round and yonder. Now, you can go ahead and appeal to my good sense of decency for help. But we both know… I ain’t got one.

[DJ produces the most insulting smile of all time. The rage on FINN's face is apparent and everyone in the docking bay is waiting to see if FINN will kill DJ in cold blood. Instead, a thought comes to FINN and his demeanor grows calm instantaneously.]

FINN

Your real name is Pepé. You were a scrumrat on the streets of Corellia. Cold, starving, eking out a life of petty crime. You either forged or doctored some documents to make it look like you were the son of a high ranking Imperial officer. Your plan worked except for one thing… they took you to see your “daddy.” Under normal circumstances, you would have been arrested or shot on the spot. But this Imperial was an intelligence officer and he was impressed with the skills of a plucky, what, twelve year old… if that? He saw potential in you, a protégé. For the first time in your life, you really had something good going for you. But only a few weeks later, the Emperor died. That Imperial officer panicked and abandoned you on Ord Mantell to fend for yourself again. Your story gets a little hazy from there.

++ I’m undecided if this monologue will be delivered solely by Finn or if it will be broken up between both Finn and Rose ++

++ Despite having the birth name of Pepé, the character will still be referred to by his “street” name of DJ ++

(dumbstruck)

How’d you find out ‘bout all that?

FINN

Eventually you crossed paths with a friend of mine. Maz Kanata has a way of pulling stories out of a person. And she never forgets.

(stuttering)

You know M-Maz?

[FINN nods.]

She here?

FINN

The First Order destroyed our base. If she's alive, the First Order has her. Now, I have a feeling that Maz is the only person in the galaxy who would help you if you really needed it. You help me find my friend and we either rescue Maz or avenge her death.

[DJ stares at FINN and processes his options. DJ whistles.]

Hey, Goldie…

[DJ makes reference to C-3PO, who is standing near POE and CHEWBACCA.]

(continued)

…get on over here. I’ll need your help.

C-3PO

Oh my. I still have no idea what's going on but I am excited to be a part of it.

[C-3PO shuffles over to DJ.]

POE

(in reference to C-3PO)

I didn’t think it was possible, but he's (OR “that droid's”) become even more annoying since his memory was erased.

[CHEWBACCA grunts in agreement.]

EXT. WATER MOON

[The SLEEPING GIANT arrives at a tranquil ocean covered moon. The SLEEPING GIANT heads to an installation floating on the surface called TRANSMITTER 137.}

++ The water on the moon is more viscus, like lite syrup, than plain water. It's an excellent sound conductor. The installation uses the entire moon as one giant communications system. ++

INT. TRANSMITTER 137

[REY, LANDO and R2-D2 enter the installation. It is cold, dark and seemingly abandoned.]

[R2-D2 chirps.]

REY

We need to find a terminal.

LANDO

Lights would be nice, too.

[As they walk through the installation, SMALL CREATURES lurk in the shadows, watching them. R2-D2 chirps.]

REY

We’re being watched.

LANDO

(nonchalant)

Yeah, I know.

[R2-D2 finds a computer terminal and plugs in. R2-D2 chirps. The lights flicker on a few seconds later. The SMALL CREATURES scatter into various hiding places.]

LANDO

(sighing)

This is ridiculous.

(calling out to the SMALL CREATURES)

C’mon out. We know you’re there.

[After a few moments, a half dozen GILL FOLK come out of their hiding places. They are diminutive in size and have characteristics of both a fish and squid. The GILL FOLK chatter at LANDO and REY.]

REY

Can you understand them?

LANDO

Nope. Not a word.

[LANDO says something in an alien language. It only serves to agitate the GILL FOLK.]

REY

What did you say to them!?

LANDO

Just a standard universal greeting of peace and harmony.

[REY raises her hands and backs away slightly.]

REY

Well, they don’t look peaceful or harmonious now. Please, just calm down. We don’t mean you any harm.

LANDO

Where's a translator droid when you need one?

[Ironically, R2-D2 has discovered a discarded PROTOCOL DROID with the designation C-VT8. R2-D2 activates C-VT8 and downloads C-3PO's personality into C-VT8.]

++ It's like R2 put a copy of Mac OS on a PC. For simplicity sake, the droid will be referred to as C-VT8 ++

C-VT8

Oh my! Artoo! What is going on?

++ C-VT8's voice is different from C-3PO's ++

[R2-D2 beeps.]

C-VT8

Wait. What's wrong with my vocal unit? I don’t sound like myself.

[R2-D2 squawks at C-VT8 who takes notice of the predicament that LANDO and REY are in.]

C-VT8

Oh dear.

[REY reaches for her lightsaber as the GILL FOLK creep in and point ELECTRIFIED WEAPONS at REY and LANDO.]

REY

I don’t want to do this…

[C-VT8 approaches. The site of C-VT8 active again is enough to distract the GIL FOLK.]

C-VT8

Mistress Rey. And, oh… Lando Calrissian! So good to see you again, sir!

LANDO

(to C-VT8)

Who are you?

C-VT8

Why, it is I, C-3PO.

[LANDO and REY are taken aback for a moment.]

LANDO

Okay.

REY

Threepio, can you understand what they are saying?

[C-VT8 speaks to the GILL FOLK. The conversation is back and forth.]

REY

Well?

C-VT8

They are the guardians of this installation. They accuse you of trespassing and demand you leave immediately.

REY

Tell them we have a very important message to send. Tell them… Tell them we need their help.

[As C-VT8 speaks with the GILL FOLK, LANDO puts a hand on R2-D2.]

LANDO

You put a backup of Threepio's memory into another droid?

[R2-D2 beeps as if to say “I’m not thrilled about it either.”]

LANDO

Great. Now there's two of him.

[C-VT8 has finished the conversation with the GILL FOLK and reports to REY.]

C-VT8

They say that one of the main power units overloaded two days ago. They’ve been attempting to repair it but don’t have the proper replacement parts.

REY

Well… let's take a look.

INT. SUPREMACY

[POE stands before a gallery and overlooks the operations in one of the ROBOTIC FACTORIES on SUPREMACY. BB-8 is at POE's side. The factory is constructing a new type of X-WING FIGHTER for the RESISTANCE PILOTS. “SNAP” WEXLY approaches POE.]

SNAP

Poe?

[POE points at the X-WING FIGHTERS.]

POE

Ya know, I hate collaborating with the First Order. But the factories on this ship… Get a load of this.

[SNAP is awestruck.]

SNAP

Now those are some nice looking fighters.

[BB-8 agrees.]

POE

What do you say to a test flight?

[BB-8 agrees!]

[SNAP snaps back to reality and remembers the reason he was looking for POE.]

SNAP

Can’t. Finn says they’re ready to contact Rey.

INT. SUPREMACY - DOCKING BAY

[Moments later, POE, BB-8 and SNAP are in the docking bay and approach a terminal. FINN, ROSE, C-3PO are huddled around DJ who is drumming away on a keyboard. DJ looks up at FINN, licks one of his fingers, and then presses one final button.]

Here goes.

INT. TRANSMITTER 137

[REY and LANDO are working with the GILL FOLK. R2-D2 suddenly starts chirping wildly.]

REY

What is it Artoo?

[A panel on R2-D2 opens, revealing REY's COMLINK. R2-D2 interfaces with the COMLINK and projects a HOLOGRAM of FINN. The HOLOGRAM distorts strangely.]

REY

(disbelief)

Finn?

FINN

(hologram; continuing)

…not working. Rey? Rey! Wow, this really worked!

REY

Finn, where are you? What happened with the Death Fleet?

FINN

(hologram)

There is no Death Fleet. It was a decoy meant to-

(takes notice of LANDO; starstruck)

You’re Lando Calrissian!

LANDO

Yeah.

REY

Finn!

FINN

(snaps back to reality)

A lot has happened, Rey, and I don’t have time to explain everything. Where are you?

[The HOLOGRAM of FINN breaks up and cuts out.]

REY

Finn!? Artoo, what happened? Can you get him back?

[R2-D2 beeps, informing REY there's nothing he can do. REY looks up and smiles; awash with relief.]

REY

They’re alive!

INT. SUPREMACY - DOCKING BAY

FINN

What happened?

ROSE

Can you get her back?

[DJ fights with the computer. After a few moments…]

Nah. Signal booster burned out.

[EVERYONE is dejected. DJ looks up at FINN and smiles.]

(singsong)

But I got a location trace.

[DJ points at the monitor which shows REY's physical location. FINN looks at ROSE and smiles.]

[Suddenly, KLAXON's sound through the hanger of the SUPREMACY. JANNAH runs up to them.]

++ All of the Renegade Stormtroopers have three red stripes over one eye, on the chest and on the back. The stripes are inspired by the blood markings on Finn's helmet from the beginning of The Force Awakens ++

JANNAH

The First Order. They found us!

POE

Blast it!

[CHEWBACCA growls, saying something to the effect of “I knew someone would betray us.”]

POE

(to Chewbacca)

Does it matter? Take these three (Finn, Rose & DJ) and find Rey.

[FINN offers no protest as POE, BB-8 and SNAP head to the fighters.]

POE

All pilots, get to your ships!

INT. PRYDE's STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

[PRYDE watches as the FIRST ORDER FLEET - a few dozen STAR DESTROYERS - close in on the RENEGADE FLEET.]

PRYDE

Target the Republic cruisers and destroy them with overwhelming force.

OFFICER

Yes, General. And the Supremacy?

[PRYDE pauses for a moment.]

PRYDE

Let us liberate her from these brigands. Prepare an incursion force.

OFFICER

Yes, sir.

EXT. SPACE

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON leads scores of RENEGADE X-WINGS and TIE FIGHTERS out of the SUPREMACY to meet the incoming FIRST ORDER attackers.]

INT. POE’S X-WING

POE

Renegade flight, this is Renegade Leader. Draw their fighters away from the Star Destroyers. Get ‘em in the open and shoot ‘em down.

[BB-8 chirps.]

PILOT #1

Copy, Renegade Leader.

PILOT #2

Copy that.

[POE looks over at the MILLENNIUM FALCON.]

POE

Finn, it's time for you guys to go.

FINN

Poe! May the Force be with you.

[CHEWBACCA barks.]

[POE smiles.]

POE

Bring her home.

EXT. SPACE

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON jumps into hyperspace. The FIRST ORDER and RENEGADE fighters engage each other. Full action details TBD. At some point, FIRST ORDER LANDING CRAFT break through and boards the SUPREMACY. JANNAH leads a force of RENEGADE STORMTROOPERS to repel the attacking FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS.]

INT. TRANSMITTER 137

[Two of the GILL FOLK are installing a DEVICE on R2-D2. The DEVICE itself is a droid called D-AO. R2-D2 squawks in protest.]

++ I imagine D-AO to look more like the backpack “reader” robots from the graphic novel Keepers of the Maser (Google it). D-AO is more of a “parasite” robot than anything else, looking roughly like a desk lamp sticking out of Artoo's head. ++

C-VT8

Oh, don’t be difficult Artoo. They say this D-AO unit will allow you to interface the transmitter.

[The GILL FOLK power D-AO on.]

D-AO

Heh… hello. Hello.

[R2-D2 groans with the demeanor of a cat that is being forced to wear bunny ears.]

[REY approaches and speaks into her COMLINK.]

REY

Lando?

INT. SLEEPING GIANT

[LANDO is at the controls of SLEEPING GIANT. LANDO is using his ship to manually align one of the transmitters.]

LANDO

Almost. Just a little further and…

[There is a click or booming noise.]

LANDO

(continued)

Done. The alignment is finished.

INT. TRANSMITTER 137

[Inside of TRANSMITTER 137, lights on a terminal turn green, indicating that the system is fully online. One of the GILL FOLK cheers.]

C-VT8

We are ready for broadcast.

REY

Good work, Lando.

LANDO

(V.O.)

I’ll be right in.

REY

Artoo?

[R2-D2 chirps, reporting that he's he ready to begin.]

[LANDO enters.]

D-AO

Here we… Here we… go.

[R2-D2 begins projecting a message into D-AO which is then sent into the transmitter and broadcast to the entire galaxy. From the MILLENNIUM FALCON to PRYDE's STAR DESTROYER to POE's X-WING to the CASINO on CANTO BITE to the CANTINA on TATOOINE to the helpless on KIJIMI to a discarded communicator found by an EWOK on ENDOR - anyone and everyone everywhere sees the same message:]

(hologram)

Citizens of the galaxy. A generation ago, we defeated a ruthless Empire. In the wake of that victory, we squabbled over the meaning of freedom, independence, right and wrong. We ignored those sinister agents among us who would snatch freedom away from the masses and did not recognize the threat until the shadow of oppression had fallen once again. Good people of the galaxy, you must rise up, unite and stand strong against the oppressive will of the First Order. Together, we will restore the light of freedom, peace and justice. Our only hope is to fight!

EXT. SPACE - MYUUNG SYSTEM

[The battle between the FIRST ORDER and RENEGADES has paused as everyone is captivated by LEIA's MESSAGE. POE snaps back to attention and the fighting continues. Full details TBD.]

INT. TRANSMITTER 137

[R2-D2, D-AO and the GILL FLOK power down the transmitter. REY continues looking at the spot where LEIA's HOLOGRAM was projected. REY looks over to LANDO.]

REY

(emotional)

We did it.

FINN

(O.S.)

Rey?

[REY turns around to see FINN, ROSE, CHEWBACCA, C-3PO and DJ behind her. REY smiles at the sight of her friends. R2-D2 cheers.]

LANDO

(laughing)

Chewie!

[CHEWBACCA barks in happiness and prepares to hug LANDO when the entire installation shakes violently. The shaking stops after a few seconds.]

LANDO

What the hell was that?

[REY has a fearful look in her eyes.]

EXT. WATER MOON - TRANSMITTER 137 - LANDING PAD

[SECONDS LATER: REY jogs out onto one of the empty landing pads. Stopping at the edge, REY looks out onto the endless sea of the WATER MOON. REY then looks down into the water. KYLO REN's STAR DESTROYER - the ECLIPSE - slowly emerges from the depths and breaks the surface of the water; the wedge point of the ECLIPSE rising a short distance away from REY. KYLO REN emerges from an access hatch and stands at the tip of the wedge, looking at REY. KYLO REN then looks back to the command section of the ECLIPSE. Seated before the window, in a high backed chair and with her hands restrained, is LEIA - who is being forced to watch.]

[LEIA closes her eyes and concentrates.]

LEIA

(quietly)

Rey. Run!

[The word “run” echoes in REY's head. However, REY cannot bring herself to abandon LEIA, nor can REY let go of her hatred of KYLO REN.]

[FINN and ROSE have run out onto the landing pad, chasing after REY. FINN and ROSE stop and watch REY from some distance away.]

FINN

Rey?

[REY activates her lightsaber. FINN can see what's about to happen and sprints after REY.]

FINN

Rey, don’t!

[REY screams and leaps onto the deck of the ECLIPSE.]

FINN

(yelling)

REY! NO!

[REY and KYLO REN duel on the ECLIPSE. FINN had reached the edge of the landing pad and acts as if he is going to attempt to jump from the landing pad to the ECLIPSE. Before FINN can attempt the jump, ROSE grabs FINN by the back of FINN's jacket.]

ROSE

Don’t. You’ll never make it.

FINN

Let me go.

ROSE

You can’t help her. You can’t.

[FINN looks at ROSE as ROSE's words sink in. FINN then looks at REY and KYLO REN as they duel.

[R2-D2, with D-AO still attached to him, heads out onto the landing platform, moving at full speed.]

D-AO

Where… Where are we going?

[The ECLIPSE begins to rise up into the air.]

FINN

Oh no. Rey!

[R2-D2 fires a magnetic cable which attaches to the ECLIPSE. The ECLIPSE lifts R2-D2 and D-AO off of the landing platform.]

ROSE

Artoo!

[R2-D2 squeals as he's lifted into the air, dangling under the tip of the ECLIPSE.]

D-AO

Oh…oh no!

[R2-D2 winches himself up to the ECLIPSE and uses his magnetic feet to attach to the hull.]

D-AO

You… you… you’re reckless.

[R2-D2 squawks.]

[Both C-3PO and C-VT8 shuffle out onto the landing pad, chasing after R2-D2.]

C-VT8

Oh, my! Artoo! That reckless little droid!

C-3PO

(to C-VT8)

I don’t believe we’ve met. I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations.

C-VT8

(flabbergasted)

You’re C-3PO? I’M C-3PO!

ROSE

(to FINN)

The Falcon.

[ROSE and FINN head back to the installation, passing C-VT8 and C-3PO.]

C-3PO

Oh dear! I wish I knew what was going on.

C-VT8

What is this imposter doing in my body!?

[C-VT8 and C-3PO chase after ROSE and FINN.]

C-3PO

Imposter? How rude!

C-VT8

I am just beside myself.

EXT. ECLIPSE - UPPER HULL

[REY and KYLO REN continue to duel on the deck of the ECLIPSE as it rises higher into the sky. REY is so focused on the duel that she doesn’t notice the elevating motion. REY eventually notices the condensation of her breath and looks over the side of the ECLIPSE; realizing how high up they are. An access hatch on the surface of the ECLIPSE opens and KYLO REN jumps inside. REY hesitates but eventually follows after KYLO REN.]

INT. ECLIPSE

[REY finds herself alone inside of a loading bay on the ECLIPSE. A door in the loading bay opens and REY walks through. REY walks down a corridor. REY is observed by FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS but the STORMTROOPERS do not attack her and keep their distance. REY walks with some suspicion, believing she will be attacked at any moment. A TURBOLIFT (++ elevator ++) door opens and REY enters.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[The TURBOLIFT doors open and REY steps out onto the OBSERVATION DECK on the uppermost level of the ECLIPSE. Restrained in a chair is LEIA. Standing before the panoramic viewport, with his back to REY is KYLO REN. The ECLIPSE has risen into the upper atmosphere and is transitioning into high orbit over the planet; light becomes darkness. REY approaches LEIA.]

REY

Master? Are you all right?

[LEIA nods.]

KYLO REN

(scoffs)

Master? So my mother has been teaching you the ways of the Jedi, has she?

[KYLO REN removes his mask and drops it onto the deck.]

KYLO REN

No wonder your skills are incomplete.

LEIA

Ben!

KYLO REN

Don’t call me that!

(mocking)

Mother.

[KYLO REN looks at REY.]

KYLO REN

(continued)

And then there's you. You’re just a nobody and yet… Yet here you are, chosen for a greater destiny.

[KYLO REN makes a motion with his hand and a panel in the floor opens. The OMEN OF DARTH BANE rises up. REY is mesmerized by the OMEN OF BANE.]

KYLO REN

You know what this is, don’t you? You who came from nothing. Sold into slavery by parents that didn’t want you. And today you stand at the precipice of becoming the most powerful being the galaxy has ever seen.

[REY raises her hand as if she is about to touch the OMEN OF BANE. REY notices her reflection on the surface of the OMEN OF BANE. REY recalls her failure in the MIRROR CAVE of AHCH-TO and backs away from the OMEN OF BANE.]

REY

I don’t want it. I never wanted any of it.

[KYLO REN approaches REY from behind. REY can see KYLO REN's reflection in the OMEN OF BANE as he talks into her ear.]

KYLO REN

I know. That is why I am going to kill you and seize this power for myself.

(OR)

I’ve always wanted it. That is why I am going to kill you and seize this power for myself.

EXT. TRANSMITTER 137 - LANDING PAD

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON powers up and lifts off. DJ casually saunters into the frame, having been forgotten and left behind by the other heroes. DJ doesn’t seem too concerned that he’s been left behind. One of the GILL FOLK is with DJ and points at the MILLENNIUM FALCON and then looks at DJ as if to say “shouldn’t you be on that ship?”.]

Well, looks like they gone forgot about ol’ DJ.

[The GILL FOLK chatters. DJ looks over to the adjacent landing pad and sees SLEEPING GIANT, which has also been left behind. DJ shrugs.]

Guess I’m okay with that.

++ DJ’s adventure ends here. He will steal Sleeping Giant and head out to parts unknown. ++

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON rises up from the WATER MOON. LANDO is in the pilot's seat with CHEWBACCA next to him. FINN and ROSE stand behind them.]

FINN

There's the Star Destroyer.

LANDO

(looking at the controls)

What the-?! Did someone put a compressor on the fuel pump?

[CHEWBACCA barks. LANDO shakes his head.]

LANDO

Amateur. All right, laying an intercept course. Finn (OR “Son”), I hope you know what you’re doin’.

FINN

Yeah. Me too.

EXT. ECLIPSE - HULL

[Meanwhile, on the hull of the ECLIPSE, R2-D2 and D-AO are searching for a service access hatch. R2-D2 chirps.]

D-AO

Uh… Uh-oh. Lookie, lookie!

[R2-D2 screams as the ECLIPSE jumps into hyperspace.]

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

LANDO

Oh no.

FINN

Rey!

[CHEWBACCA growls.]

LANDO

Track them through hyperspace? We can do that?

ROSE

Yeah. With this.

[ROSE points at the hyperspace tracker installed on the MILLENNIUM FALCON.]

LANDO

Huh. All right Chewie, let's go.

[LANDO and CHEWBACCA reach for the hyperspace controls. Before they can jump to hyperspace, an urgent beeping is heard from one of the controls.]

FINN

Wait! What’s that?

[CHEWBACCA growls. Everyone in the cockpit of the MILLENNIUM FALCON looks out of the windows and is astonished.]

LANDO

(dumbfounded)

Am I the only one seein’ this?

EXT. SPACE - MYUUNG SYSTEM

++ WRITER's NOTE :: I haven’t yet worked out all of the events of the Battle of Myuung. What follows below is a rough outline of events and a general guideline on how the story plays out. As movies are made, the filmmakers will shoot, reshoot, edit and re-edit certain action sequences. Think of this a “broad stroke storytelling” where the finer details will be added in during subsequent revisions. ++

They’re making a run at Star One.

POE

I see ‘em.

(V.O.)

They’re launching torpedoes!

EXT. SPACE

[TIE BOMBERS launch a dozen torpedoes at STAR ONE, the new REPUBLIC FLAGSHIP.]

INT. POE’S X-WING

POE

Ah, smeg! BB give me everything to the engines!

[BB-8 chirps as POE flies at full speed to intercept the torpedoes.]

INT. STAR ONE - BRIDGE

[Onboard STAR ONE.]

WEDGE

Evasive maneuvers. Fire countermeasures!

INT. POE’S X-WING

[POE fires at the torpedoes and destroys several of them. POE follows the remaining torpedoes and is rocked by the countermeasures fired by STAR ONE. BB-8 squeals in alarm.]

POE

Yeah, I know.

[The last torpedo is destroyed. POE pulls back and out of range of the friendly fire. BB-8 chatters rapidly.]

POE

(answering BB-8)

Yeah. Can you fix it?

[BB-8's reply is unhappy.]

POE

All right, all right. Supremacy, this is Renegade Leader. Two of my engines are down and I need to make an emergency landing. It's gonna be bad!

CONTROL OFFICER

Acknowledged Renegade Leader. Landing bay five is clear to receive you.

INT. SUPREMACY - LANDING BAY

[POE's X-WING has a hard landing in the docking bay, eventually slamming into a small transport before coming to a stop. POE is all right and emerges from the X-WING, shaking the cobwebs out of his head. BB-8 beeps as he debarks from the X-WING. Two TECHNICIANS approach POE.]

TECH #1

Are you all right, sir?

POE

(a bit perturbed)

I’m fine! Get another ship prepped. I gotta get back out there.

(OR)

I’m fine! Find me another fighter. I gotta get back out there.

INT. PRYDE’S STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

[GENERAL PRYDE watches the battle from the main view port. The CAPTAIN of the STAR DESTROYER approaches PRYDE.]

CAPTAIN

General, The Supreme Leader has arrived.

PRYDE

Ah, good.

EXT. SPACE

[The ECLIPSE emerges from hyperspace on the periphery of the battle. The camera focuses on R2-D2 and D-AO who are still on the hull of the ECLIPSE. R2-D2 sees the battle and beeps.]

D-AO

Oh…not good.

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[KYLO REN gestures to the battle taking place outside the viewport. REY takes notice of what is happening with the RENEGADE FLEET.]

KYLO REN

Oh my. It would appear that things are not going so well for your side, are they? And it's about to get worse.

INT. PRYDE’S STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

[A HOLOGRAM of VINNER RIKERSH appears before PRYDE.]

VINNER RIKERSH

(hologram)

What are your orders, Aligent General?

PRYDE

Prime your autocannon. Target the Republic Fleet. Fire when ready.

EXT. SPACE

[POE's new X-WING emerges from the SUPREMACY. BB-8 beeps, informing POE of the ECLIPSE.]

POE

Yeah, I see it. Renegade Flight, ditch your targets and get all wings on that fleet killer. Now!

[ECLIPSE fires at the RENEGADE FLEET and subsequently destroys one of the REPUBLIC SHIPS.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

LEIA

Ben. Stop this! Ask them to surrender. They’ll listen to me.

KYLO REN

No! I will not accept surrender. Only annihilation.

[REY looks at KYLO REN. Hatred is welling up inside of REY.]

KYLO REN

That's it! I can feel your anger. Your hatred. C’mon!

EXT. SPACE

[RENEGADE SQUADRON swarms the ECLIPSE. Two more REPUBLIC SHIPS are destroyed.]

INT. POE's X-WING

POE

Renegade Squad, press the attack! Form up and hit ‘em with a coordinated strike!

SNAP

(V.O.)

No good, Poe. Their defenses are too strong. We need to-

[SNAP's fighter is shot down and crashes into the hull of the ECLIPSE.]

POE

Snap?

[BB-8 chirps but POE freezes up. POE watches as Renegade fighters are shot down one after another.]

POE

(stunned)

We’re not gonna make it.

[Pause.]

LANDO

(V.O.)

Sounds like you could use some friends.

[BB-8 chirps.]

POE

Who is this?

FINN

(V.O.)

Look behind you.

EXT. SPACE

[POE turns his head and sees a RAGTAG FLEET comprised of HUNDREDS of ships lead by the MILLENNIUM FALCON emerge from HYPERSPACE. It's a fantastic sight. POE laughs with relief.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[Onboard the ECLIPSE, REY sees the RAGTAG FLEET and her anger dissolves.]

REY

(taunting)

Looks like you’ve failed, Supreme Leader.

[LEIA smiles.]

INT. PRYDE'S STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

[Onboard PRYDE's STAR DESTROYER.]

PRYDE

Identify those ships! Who are they?

CAPTAIN

(perplexed)

They- They’re just ships. Ordinary ships.

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

LANDO

Transport ships, get some reinforcements on the heavy cruisers. Fighters… pick a target and blow it up. Anyone with bombs or heavy torpedoes, go after that big ship.

[CHEWBACCA grunts.]

INT. POE's X-WING

RENEGADE 4

(V.O.)

What are your orders, Renegade Leader?

POE

(smiles, renewed energy)

Y’all follow me.

ZORII

(V.O.)

So they’re calling you Renegade Leader, huh?

POE

Zorii?

[ZORII's ship, the STARBIRD AVENGER, flies next to POE's X-WING.]

ZORII

Don’t expect me to call you ‘sir’ or nothing.

POE

(happy/relieved)

Zorii, you made it!

[BABU FRIK appears over ZORII's shoulder.]

BABU FRIK

An’ Babu too, yah!

EXT. SPACE

[POE leads ZORII's STARBIRD AVENGER and several other fighters in attacking the ECLIPSE.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[KYLO REN, REY and LEIA watch the battle.]

KYLO REN

The end is drawing near. Everything you fought for, everyone you love…. will die.

[KYLO REN activates his lightsaber and points it at REY.]

KYLO REN

Unless you give me what I want.

[The anger in REY's eyes is apparent. REY reaches for her lightsaber but then stops as a moment of clarity comes to her.]

REY

(calmly)

No. It's over Ben. You can’t win. I will not fight you.

[There is a moment where the only thing heard is the crackling of KYLO REN's lightsaber.]

KYLO REN

Yes you will.

LEIA

REY!

[KYLO REN raises his lightsaber and swings it at LEIA, intent on killing LEIA. REY activates her lightsaber and is able to block KYLO REN's lightsaber, protecting LEIA.]

INT. PRYDE’S STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

PRYDE

Get a firing solution on their command ship and destroy it now!

INT. STAR ONE - BRIDGE

COMMANDER

Admiral, they’ve locked on to us.

OFFICER #1

We should get to the escape pods.

WEDGE

It's too late for that.

[WEDGE straightens up and addresses his crew.]

WEDGE

It's been an honor serving with all of you.

EXT. SPACE

[The ECLIPSE fires. The blast heads directly towards the helpless STAR ONE. WEDGE closes his eyes. Suddenly, the SUPREMACY places itself between the blast and the RENEGADE FLEET, shielding the RENEGADE FLEET from the ECLIPSE.]

INT. SUPREMACY - BRIDGE

[The SUPREMACY is rocked but remains intact. HUX is knocked off of his feet.]

POE

(V.O.)

Hux? Hux, you all right?

HUX

I’m fine, Dameron. Don’t be too disappointed.

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[KYLO REN and REY duel. Full details TBD.]

EXT. ECLIPSE - OUTSIDE OF THE OBSERVATION DECK

[R2-D2 and D-AO are still on the hull of the ECLIPSE. They’ve made their way to the outside of the OBSERVATION DECK and watch KYLO REN and REY duel from the outside.]

D-AO

Rec… Recording.

[D-AO's eyes light up as he begins filming the duel. D-AO's recording is inadvertently broadcast to the entire RENEGADE FLEET. The crew of STAR ONE, MILLENNIUM FALCON, POE and ZORII are able to watch the duel as they retreat away from the SUPREMACY.]

POE

Rey?

LANDO

Leia!

[CHEWBACCA roars.]

POE

All ships, break off attack. Rey and Leia are onboard this thing.

++WHOOPS :: After re-reading this, I realized that everyone on the Falcon would have known that Rey was on the Eclipse. I think if I revise this, I’ll have Artoo broadcast Rey and Kylo’s duel before the Ragtag Fleet arrives.++

HUX

No, dammit! Now is our only chance to destroy the Eclipse.

POE

No, I won’t sacrifice their lives.

HUX

Either they die or we all die!

WEDGE

Our only other option is to retreat.

[POE doesn’t know what to do. POE looks over at ZORII’s ship. All ZORII can do is shake her head.]

POE

Finn? What do we do? Talk to me.

[FINN is in the cockpit of the MILLENNIUM FALCON. FINN looks at LANDO.]

LANDO

Sorry, kid. It’s not my call to make.

(OR)

Sorry, kid. It’s your choice to make.

INT. SUPREMACY - BRIDGE

[JANNAH and about a dozen of her troops enter the BRIDGE, they seem frantic.]

JANNAH

Seal the hatch.

[Two RENEGADE STORMTROOPERS work on the main door to the bridge. JANNAH removes her helmet and reports to HUX.]

JANNAH

General, First Order forces have boarded with overwhelming force. We can’t hold them off. They’re right behind us.

POE

No, it’s over. Evacuate the Supremacy and let’s get out of here.

HUX

I will not surrender Supremacy.

[HUX turns to a control panel and begins activating the self destruct sequence.]

POE

Hux, what the hell are you doing?!

[Meanwhile, the FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS begin cutting through the bridge door. The door explodes. HUX is hit with debris and is knocked to the deck. JANNAH and her squad defend the bridge. Intense battle action, details TBD. After some time, the FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS are assaulted from behind. JANNAH and the bridge crew hold their fire as a lone RENEGADE STORMTROOPER stands in the entryway. The RENEGADE STORMTROOPER removes his helmet and is revealed as FINN.]

JANNAH

Finn!

[CHEWBACCA appears in the doorway with FINN and roars.]

FINN

C’mon, all of you. More of ‘em are on the way. The Falcon's docked at the next junction.

[JANNAH attends to HUX. A piece of debris has lodged itself into HUX's shoulder, cutting deep. HUX yells in pain.]

FINN

Chewie, you’ll need to carry him.

[CHEWBACCA replies with “what?” in his native language.]

HUX

(groaning)

No! This is my ship. I won’t let them take it from me.

[FINN looks at JANNAH and CHEWBACCA.]

FINN

All right. Let's get out of here.

[The crew exits the bridge, leaving HUX behind. FINN is the last to leave. FINN looks back at HUX. They salute each other (++ maybe? ++) and FINN disappears.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[KYLO REN and REY continue to duel. During the course of the fighting, KYLO REN loses his lightsaber but somehow is able to wrestle REY’s lightsaber away from her. KYLO REN ends up knocking REY to the round. KYLO REN points the blue Skywalker lightsaber at REY.]

KYLO REN

It’s over!

[REY looks at KYLO REN intently, with fire in her eyes.]

KYLO REN

That’s it! Your hatred. Your true nature.

[REY looks at the OMEN OF BANE.]

KYLO REN

(continued)

That is what it really wants. This is your destiny.

INT. SUPREMACY - BRIDGE

[Onboard the SUPREMACY, dozens of FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS enter the bridge. HUX has his back to them and looks out onto the stars.]

[One FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER speaks into his wrist mic.]

STORMTROOPER

Allegiant General, we have secured the bridge.

PRYDE

(V.O.)

Excellent. And General Hux?

STORMTROOPER

Captured alive, sir.

[A MOUSE DROID picks its way through the ranks of the FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPERS. The MOUSE DROID stops near HUX and projects a HOLOGRAM of PRYDE.]

PRYDE

(hologram)

General Hux, you have committed high treason against the Supreme Leader and will be executed immediately.

[Every FIRST ORDER STORMTROOPER on the bridge raises their weapon and points it at HUX.]

PRYDE

(hologram)

Do you have any final words?

[HUX contemplates for a moment.]

HUX

Yes.

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[KYLO REN raises the lightsaber with the intent of killing REY. KYLO REN’s hand is suddenly grabbed from behind. KYLO REN turns around to see LEIA standing behind him. LEIA has a look of intense, angry determination in her eyes. KYLO REN becomes fearful of his mother’s wrath. KYLO REN looks down and sees his lightsaber in LEIA’s hand.]

INT. SUPREMACY - BRIDGE

[HUX turns to the hologram of PRYDE. HUX reveals the DETONATOR in his hand.]

HUX

(continued)

I’m taking you with me.

[PRYDE’s eyes grow large as HUX activates the DETONATOR.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[The SUPREMACY explodes in the background. The force of the blast destroys most of the FIRST ORDER STAR DESTROYERS surrounding the SUPREMACY. ]

[LEIA activates KYLO REN’s lightsaber - the fiery blade shoots out, through KYLO REN's chest and back.]

REY

(screaming)

NOOOOOO!!

[The shockwave from the SUPREMACY strikes the ECLIPSE. KYLO REN, LEIA and REY are all knocked out.]

[CUT TO BLACK]

SOMEWHERE - SCENE FROM A MEMORY

LEIA

(V.O.)

Hey sleepyhead. It's time to wake up.

[FADE IN]

[KYLO REN has a vision of himself as a child - as BEN SOLO. He is about five years old and simply talking with his mother, LEIA. Details of this heartwarming conversation are to be determined.]

[The dream changes (…as they often do). KYLO REN, now an adult, stands alone inside of STARKILLER BASE. The sound of a terrible battle rages outside. Suddenly, all goes quiet.]

HAN SOLO

Hey, kid.

[KYLO REN turns to see his father, HAN SOLO, standing behind him. KYLO REN is reliving the events of HAN SOLO's death.]

KYLO REN

(genuinely confused)

Dad?

HAN SOLO

Ben… We miss you. It’s time for you to come home.

[KYLO REN looks at his chest, at the hole where the lightsaber struck him. Tears come to KYLO REN's eyes as whatever small part of BEN SOLO emerges within him.]

++ KYLO REN will henceforth be BEN SOLO ++

BEN SOLO

I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it.

[BEN SOLO holds out his lightsaber, offering it to HAN SOLO. HAN SOLO takes the lightsaber away from BEN SOLO. HAN SOLO puts his free hand over the wound on BEN SOLO's chest.]

HAN SOLO

It's all right, son.

BEN SOLO

(crying)

Dad… I…

HAN SOLO

(smiling w/ tears in his eye, comforting)

I know.

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[The OBSERVATION DECK is in ruins. Debris is everywhere, some of it on fire. Overhead lights flash.]

[BEN SOLO awakens and looks up. LEIA is holding BEN SOLO in her arms.]

LEIA

Ben? It’s all right.

[BEN SOLO puts his hand on his chest and feels where the lightsaber cut into him. BEN SOLO looks up at LEIA with tears in his eyes.]

BEN SOLO

Mom? Mom… I’m sorry.

[BEN SOLO dies in LEIA's arms. REY awakens, stands and watches from a short distance away.]

[LEIA looks at REY.]

REY

Why didn’t you tell me?

[LEIA then leans against BEN SOLO and closes her eyes.]

REY

What are you doing?

[LEIA uses the FORCE to transfer her life energy into BEN SOLO. BEN SOLO convulses and begins breathing again. LEIA stands over BEN SOLO. REY helps LEIA sit in a nearby chair. REY kneels next to LEIA.]

REY

Why?

[LEIA touches REY's face. BEN SOLO stirs and awakens. BEN SOLO is weak and can only watch.]

LEIA

He’s my son.

(OR)

He's my son again.

[Meanwhile, R2-D2 has found his way inside of the OBSERVATION DECK. R2-D2, detaches from D-AO and approaches LEIA. LEIA gently touches R2-D2 and smiles. LEIA looks at REY.]

LEIA

Each of us were created for a purpose. We have a reason to live.

[LEIA dies.]

[After a few moments, LEIA's body disappears. R2-D2 coos, sadly. REY begins to cry uncontrollably. REY and BEN look at each other. REY then looks at the OMEN OF BANE and a wave of anger crashes over her. REY stands and approaches the OMEN OF BANE.]

BEN

(shouting)

NO! DON’T!!

[REY uses the force and KYLO REN’s lightsaber leaps into REY’s hand. REY activates the lightsaber and slices the OMEN OF BANE in two, causing a large fragment to crash to the floor.]

[There is silence for a few moments. SMOKE begins to emerge from the OMEN OF BANE followed by a SHRIEK that echoes off of the chamber walls. Both BEN and REY watch intently as the SMOKE begins to increase. Small FLASHES OF LIGHTNING are seen within the SMOKE.]

[The SMOKE begins to coalesce into a single FORM (++ the FORM is humanoid - roughly the size of a CHIMP ++). The SHRIEK transforms into LAUGHTER. The FORM stands and turns to face REY and BEN who look into the pale white face of EMPEROR PALPATINE.]

BEN

(shocked)

The Emperor!

(OR)

Impossible!

REY

(disbelief)

But… you’re dead!

[PALPATINE laughs.]

PALPATINE

My dear girl. I never had any intention of dying!

[PALPATINE extends his arms and LIGHTNING shoots from each of his hands. BEN and REY are both struck by the LIGHTNING and are thrown across the room. PALPATINE laughs as he transforms into ENERGY and shoots through the hull of the ECLIPSE. The ENERGY flashes across space towards PRYDE's STAR DESTROYER.]

INT. PRYDE’S STAR DESTROYER - BRIDGE

[The crew of the STAR DESTROYER are trying to regain power. There is overlapping chatter on the matter.]

[In a flash, PALPATINE appears on the bridge. PRYDE and the bridge crew don’t know what to do. PALPATINE touches the deck and the STAR DESTROYER instantly regains power. PRYDE looks at the tattoo on his hand. The tattoo glows brightly, PRYDE is mesmerized and kneels before PALPATINE.]

PRYDE

(breathless)

What is your bidding, Master?

PALPATINE

Recall your ships. Take me to the sanctuary on Exegol. Immediately.

PRYDE

Yes, my lord.

[All of the functional FIRST ORDER ships jump away from the battle.]

INT. ECLIPSE - OBSERVATION DECK

[Back on the ECLIPSE, REY gingerly rises up to her feet. REY looks at BEN who has absolute fear in his eyes.]

BEN

What have you done?

(OR)

What have we done?

EXT. SPACE

[POE’s X-Wing heads towards what is left of the ECLIPSE. ZORII follows along with POE. BB-8 beeps.]

ZORII

The First Order are leaving.

POE

Who cares? I need a fire and rescue team over here now! All ships, we gotta get to Rey and Leia.

[BB-8 beeps in alarm.]

FINN

Poe, the reactor’s gone critical! Back off before it -

[The wreckage of the ECLIPSE explodes.]

FINN

Rey?

[ROSE embraces FINN. CHEWBACCA roars.]

[Everyone is silent for a while before R2-D2 is heard on the comm system.]

C-3PO & C-VT8

(simultaneous)

That sounds like Artoo.

(turning to each other)

Oh will you shut up!

[BB-8 cheers.]

POE

Artoo-Detoo is that you?

[R2-D2 cheers.]

REY

It’s us, Poe! We made it.

[Everyone celebrates at hearing REY’s voice. The RENEGADE FLEET heads to the planet MYUUNG.]

EXT. MYUUNG

[The planet MYUUNG is barren grassland. The RENEGADES land on and celebrate their victory. Details TBD.]

INT. MILLENNIUM FALCON - COCKPIT

[LANDO sits alone in the cockpit of the MILLENNIUM FALCON and looks around the interior. LANDO smiles as the memories come back to him. JANNAH enters the cockpit and sits in the co-pilot’s seat.]

JANNAH

So, where are you from, General? If you don’t mind my asking.

LANDO

The Gold system. What about you, kid?

[JANNAH looks up and out into the sky.]

JANNAH

(sighs)

I don’t know.

LANDO

(mischievous smile)

Whaddya say we find out?

[JANNAH’s eyes light up and she smiles.]

EXT. MYUUNG

[The victory celebration is in full swing. After some time, a FIRST ORDER SHUTTLE approaches and lands. Everyone is cautious until R2-D2 emerges from the shuttle. 3PO and VT8 approach R2-D2.]

C-VT8

Artoo-Detoo, look what you’ve done! I demand you restore me to my proper body at once.

C-3PO

You’re body? Why, really!

C-VT8

Oh, please. You couldn’t translate Baccakalonnian into Standard Basic if you had a decoding ring!

C-3PO

Well, that's a hilarious joke coming from someone who can’t understand the basic principles of High Paritic declension!

[POE and FINN watch as C-3PO and C-VT8 argue with each other.]

POE

Wait… there's two of him now?

FINN

(dryly)

There's two of him now.

[BB-8 sounds dejected at the news.]

[REY emerges from the shuttle. Everyone is happy to see REY. Hugs and smiles all around.]

[BEN SOLO emerges from the shuttle. Everyone surprised to see him.]

[POE draws his sidearm.]

REY

No, Poe. Everyone just calm down.

[BEN walks up to POE; the two stare at each other. Awkward silence.]

BEN SOLO

So who talks first? You? Me?

POE

You… You’re a war criminal. I say we execute him right here and now.

[MANY agree with POE including ROSE.]

REY

No. Stop. Yes, he's committed crimes. But he must receive a trial. Are we going to fall into mob rules after we just fought to restore justice?!

(OR)

No. Stop. Yes, he's committed crimes. But he must receive a trial. How can there ever be justice if we only follow mob rules?

FINN

Revenge is not justice.

POE

You’re playing a dangerous game, Rey.

REY

And who among us has the right to judge?

[The CROWD parts, revealing CHEWBACCA. The air is tense as CHEWBACCA steps forward and stands before BEN. BEN trembles slightly as CHEWBACCA just growls. Nearly everyone expects CHEWBACCA to rip BEN in half. After a few moments, CHEWBACCA turns away and passionately yells something* in his native language before walking away.]

++ *Chewie yelled: “Take him away” ++

POE

You heard Chewie. Lock him up.

[BEN looks at REY as he is led away. REY stands alone for a few moments.]

LEIA’S FUNERAL

++ Need to add a funeral scene for Leia. I have a couple of different ideas in mind and will keep them private for now. ++

VICTORY CELEBRATION

++ Similar to the ending of The Phantom Menace, the funeral scene will be followed by a victory celebrations. Not sure yet what form the celebrations will take ++

[IRIS WIPE TO:]

EXT. SPACE

[The MILLENNIUM FALCON emerges from hyperspace and heads into the atmosphere of AHCH-TO.]

EXT. AHCH-TO

[MILLENNIUM FALCON lands on the SANCTUARY ISLAND. REY debarks the MILLENNIUM FALCON and begins climbing up to the JEDI TEMPLE.

INT. AHCH-TO JEDI TEMPLE

REY

Master Skywalker?

[REY's voice echoes off of the temple walls.]

REY

(continued)

If you can hear me, I need to know. Please tell me. Is Emperor Palpatine still alive?

[There is silence for a moment but then the temple begins to quake ever so slightly before the ethereal voice of LUKE SKYWALKER is heard.]

LUKE

(V.O.)

Yes.

[REY stands alone and ponders her next question carefully.]

REY

Can I defeat him?

LUKE

(V.O.)

Not alone.

FADE TO BLACK

AND NOW A WORD FROM THE WRITER:
